Oscars 2016

Like last year, I am again approaching The Oscars with my co-presenter Heather and she will be giving all her views on the Best Picture nominees, as well as some others. These have been included below with links to my full reviews.

BEST PICTURE

The Big Short

No short about it. It was long. No, it was fine.

Bridge of Spies

Brooklyn

Mad Max: Fury Road

At a glance, this movie resembles a mix of some of the weirder Doctor Who episodes and Top Gear. However, after ten minutes of adjusting to the apocalyptic world of Mad Max, I actually began to enjoy it. Tom Hardy had it easy; he had all of three words to say in the entire movie.

The Martian

Unlike Mad Max, which is probably not one you would show your mother, The Martian definitely is. Primarily because it is a movie about gardening on Mars.

The Revenant

It was the best two and a half hours I have spent in a long time... Although I did spend it asleep

Room

Spotlight

People talk to each other solemnly. More people talk to each other solemnly. Occasional moments when people are silent. People talk to each other. Film ends.

OTHER NOMINEES

Carol

The Danish Girl

Ex Machina

Brutal... *stabs spoon into ice cream* Bionic Bitches

What I don't understand about this movie, is that out of five people living in the girl's head, FOUR of them look like weird coloured little aliens, and one of them is allowed to look like the Angelina Jolie of the emotional world. That seems like favouritism.

I want one of those mops. That was the aim of the film, right?

Sicario

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

Steve Jobs

Straight Outta Compton
